Little Rebels Press began in 2025 as a pedagogical and publishing experiment. Initially developed through work in Afghanistan, the project emerged from a broader inquiry into authorship, access, and collective forms of cultural production. It asked what kinds of infrastructures might be possible when stories are created by those who have too often been positioned only as their subjects.

As the project evolved, a growing network of writers, illustrators, translators, educators, researchers, and community organizers became involved in shaping its direction. What began as a question gradually developed into a publishing practice. Founded in Berlin, Little Rebels Press has grown through collaborations with grassroots feminist initiatives, collectives, and nonprofit organizations across different geographies, languages, and contexts.

Little Rebels Press is a volunteer-run publishing platform, archive, and learning community. It is a space where storytelling, translation, education, and cultural production come together through collaborative practice. Rather than operating within a single discipline or institutional framework, the press brings together diverse forms of knowledge, experience, and creative work.

The mission of the press is rooted in a commitment to feminist storytelling, collective authorship, and the preservation of narratives that are too often overlooked, simplified, or excluded. We understand stories not only as forms of expression, but as sites where memory, knowledge, and power are negotiated. Through publishing, translation, illustration, editorial practice, and community-led projects, we work to expand who gets to participate in the production of culture and knowledge.

We believe that archives are living structures. They are shaped not only by what is preserved, but by what is made visible, shared, honored, and grieved. For this reason, our work extends beyond the publication of books. We cultivate spaces for exchange, learning, collaboration, and experimentation. We support projects that move across languages and disciplines, and we approach translation as a creative and political practice rather than a simple transfer.

The press is sustained through volunteer labor, donations, and collective investment. It’s structure remains intentionally open, allowing projects, partnerships, and ideas to emerge through participation. Like the archive itself, the press remains unfinished, continually shaped by the people who contribute to it.

Little Rebels Press exists as an evolving ecology of stories, relationships, and shared work. It is a place to write, translate, publish, learn, and imagine other ways of being together.
